Latest News - Grand Turk chooses Whitby as it's permanent winter home

thrilling the large crowds that bustled around the harbour.

HM Bark Endeavour

The Australian built replica of Cooks ship Endeavour returned to its spiritual home of Whitby for six weeks in 2003. The first visit, in May 1997 created huge interest. Pictures of her entry into Whitby harbour, accompanied by an armada of small boats, were beamed around the world and she was welcomed by a cheering crowd of tens of thousands.
She has now returned to Australia and is likely to stay there.

The Grand Turk

The 152 foot Grand Turk sailed into Whitby harbour with all guns blazing when she visited for the whole month of August 2003 and dominated the harbour over Christmas and New Year 2004/5. It has now been announced that The Grand Turk has chosen Whitby as it's winter home. You may recognize the ship as a film star - The Indefatigable in the TV series Hornblower.
