Seagull
Cottage
****
"Beautiful cottage. Love Whitby. Lots to do, lots to see.....sad to go home. Would definitely come back to this cottage. Thanks" A.H.
Seagull Cottage is an eighteenth century
fisherman's cottage situated on Saltpanwell Steps, a stepped yard
leading from Church Street to The Ropery. If you are not keen on steps
you can access the cottage using Horse road, the inclined yard to the
rear of the cottage which used to be the ancient route from the Abbey to
the river and beyond.
The cottage is a double fronted end terrace cottage with an enclosed
rear grassed garden and is our most popular cottage with dog owners.
We
are happy to take more than one dog in this property subject to our
conditions.

On the ground floor of the
cottage there is a porch leading to a decent sized lounge with hardwood
flooring, a coal fire, 2 leather sofas and a 32" LCD TV.
From the lounge you can access the garden and an open plan staircase leads
upstairs. The kitchen/Diner is off the lounge and has the equipment you
would expect in a modern kitchen. The dining area has a fixed table with 2
old pews from a church in Whitby as bench seating. The heating throughout
the cottage is modern electric heating providing the equivalent of central
heating. All electric is included in the price but please buy your own logs
or coal to use the open fire.

Modern style stairs lead
to the first floor. There is a large twin bedroom with windows to front and
rear and a family bathroom with an electric shower over the bath.
Further stairs lead to the second floor which contains the double bedroom
with exposed old beams. This room has a walk in wardrobe and a built in
dressing table. The dormer window in this room gives a panoramic view of the
top of the upper harbour and distant views of the moors.
